Partnership with JAAC

The Jordan Air Ambulance Center offers a paid service which is expensive to most people. In order to make the service available to all Jordanians, the Jordan Air Ambulance Center has designed various partnerships schemes that avail the service to the largest number of people at nominal rates. The partnership schemes include the following:

Government agreements

The Jordan Air Ambulance Center is working on an agreement with the Ministry of Health to cover all persons covered by the Civil Health Insurance with the Center. This agreement will come into effect soon.

 

Insurance companies

Insurance companiescan avail to their clients, whether individuals or companies, the security of services of the Jordan Air Ambulance Center through a small and nominal fee added tho their health insurance or vehicle insurance. Persons who travel outside Amman or who live outside Amman can buy this additional layer of security. By buying this service from the insurance company, clients are entitled for a free air medical transport from their area to an advanced hospital in Amman. The center has agreements to date with:

  • The Jordan French Insurance Company
  • An agreement with Nathealth will be signed soon.

 

Corporate subscription

Companies can enter into agreement to cover their staff with the Jordan Air Ambulance Center. The Jordan Air Ambulabce Center has a scheme for companies where they can provide the service to their staff at a nominal fee. With this agreeement, staff are entitled for air medical transport from the area of emergency to an advanced hospital in Amman.

 

Corporate sponsorhip 

Companies and individuals can donate to the Center in the form of social and corporate social responsibility where their donations will be used to transport persons in need and who otherwise cannot buy this service. 

 

Individuals

Persons who travel outside Amman or who live outside Amman can buy this additional layer of security. By buying this service from the insurance company, clients are entitled for a free air medical transport from their area to an advanced hospital in Amman.

Prices and locations of service

Operating from Amman Civil Airport at Marka, JAAC’s AW139 helicopters can travel 420 nautical miles (750 KMs), enabling them to conduct rescue operations within Jordan and nearby areas in neighbouring countries. The Air Ambulance service is authorised to land at all landing points in Jordan, spread over more than 45 locations in the country. JAAC’s fleet can be up in the air within 15 minutes from notification. Future plans exist for increasing the fleet and to spread the base including a permanent presence at King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba and other locations, thereby improving the Centre’s emergency response time. The Jordan Air Ambulance Center can pick patients up from any of the following helipads in the country.

Is the service free or paid

The service is a paid service

Medical air transportation is a paid service. The price of the service depends on the location of pick up. A schedule showing service locations is available in this section of the website. The Center accepts payment by most types of credit cards. While the service is a paid service, the Jordan Air Ambulance Center has various schemes to make the service affordable and accessible to all patients. In case of need, do call us as we may have some trips donated by sponsors.  

 

Insurance

The Jordan Air Ambulance Center appreciates that the service can be costly as such; there are personal insurance programs that individuals can buy to obtain this service for free in time of emergency. These are:

Companies can subscribe their employees to the service of the Jordan Air Ambulance Center. A rate card is prepared where companies can register their staff in return of which they will be entitled to receive the service for free in time of emergency.

Corporate subsidy

In order to provide services to the largest segment of the population, the Center initiated a corporate social responsibility programs through which large corporations cover transportation for non-insured citizens who are unable to cover the cost of the trip. Several pledges have been obtained from large corporations.

How to Request the Service

Telephone numbers

The service can be requested by dialing either

  • 911 or asking for the Air Ambulance Center or

 

The following guidelines apply

  • Always call 911 first in case of emergency. JAAC does not pick patients from road traffic accidents
  • The Jordan Air Ambulance Center does not act as a first line of response and requests for the the service must come from the doctor treating the patient, the hospital, or the civil defense.
  • Upon receiving the call from the treating doctor, medics from the Jordan Air Ambulance Center will discuss the patient’s situation with the treating doctor and assess the need and safety of air transportation.
  • It is the responsibility of the patient and his care takers to ensure the availability of a bed in the receiving hospital and to address the cost of treatment is guaranteed.
  • The Jordan Air Ambulance is a transportation service and is not responsible for paying for any treatment at the first or the receiving hospitals.

Team

The work of JAAC is all about team work. Working in full harmony, JAAC's team consists of about 45 professionals working around the clock in pursuit of more efficient, effective mission deployment. They include:

  1. Pilots, some are licensed flight instructors
  2. Medical crew, specially trained in flight and emergency medicine 
  3. Engineers and technicians fully trained on ton various parts of the Agusta helicopters
  4. Civil Defence operating the call centre
  5. Administrative, financial, and marketing professionals

A single aircraft can transport two patients on stretchers. The helicopters are manned by two pilots and two medical staff in any one journey.

The Fleet

The AW139 is the market-leading intermediate twin-engine helicopter - the benchmark for safety design features, performance capabilities and productivity in challenging multi-role operations all over the world.
 
The aircraft features leading edge technology, including a Honeywell Primus Epic fully integrated avionics system and 4-axis digital AFCS and benefits from the best-in-class power reserve and outstanding power to weight ratio, which provides Category A performance capabilities with no limitations in a wide range of operating conditions, including ‘hot and high’.
Passengers and mission operators benefit from the largest, most comfortable cabin in the intermediate twin-engine class.

 

Medical Capabilities on Board

Every JAAC helicopter has been fully prepared with medical equipment for air evacuation operations. This equipment was added to ensure the Centre’s ability to provide involved medical service for all age groups and injury types during transportation, and includes:

  1. Heart-monitoring (ECG) and automated external defibrillator (AED) tools
  2. Electric and artificial respiratory equipment
  3. Vital sign monitoring equipment
  4. Oxygen and CO2 monitoring equipment
  5. Blood glucose monitor
  6. Surgical devices to secure patients and prevent lung collapse (including altimeter)
  7. Splints for limb injuries as well as spinal paralysis equipment
  8. Endotracheal intubation equipment
  9. Emergency medicine
  10. Intravenous solutions
  11. Specialised equipment to cease internal bleeding and handle shock
  12. Mobile and stationary secretion and liquid suction equipment
